Stephen Aslett
About
Houston-based criminal defense attorney Stephen Aslett focuses his practice on criminal law cases, including domestic assault, writs and appeals, expunction, and more. He graduated from Tulane Law School in 2008 in the top 5% of his class. While at Tulane, he earned awards for my legal writing and trial advocacy.
After graduation, Stephen moved to Houston where he was hired as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. In his nearly seven years with the District Attorney’s Office, he prosecuted thousands of cases and tried dozens of cases to juries, ranging from misdemeanor DWI and assault cases to serious felonies such as burglary, aggravated assault, and murder.
In addition to working in numerous felony and misdemeanor courts, Stephen also worked in numerous specialized divisions. As a prosecutor in the Family Criminal Law Division, he handled all types of domestic violence cases, from misdemeanors like assault on a family member, terroristic threat, harassment, and protective order violations, to more serious felony cases such as stalking, assault on a family member by impeding breathing, and aggravated assault on a family member. As the Misdemeanor Section Chief, he trained newer prosecutors on how to try domestic violence cases.
While at the District Attorney’s Office, Stephen also worked in the Vehicular Crimes Section where he handled hit and run cases, street racing cases, and intoxication manslaughter cases. He also handled juvenile cases as a prosecutor in the Juvenile Division.
As a criminal defense lawyer, Attorney Aslett uses the experience and knowledge gained as a prosecutor to his clients’ advantage. He intentionally keeps his caseload low to ensure that he can give each and every client’s case the personal attention it deserves.
